Sendai 2011: The earthquake


An earthquake of a magnitude of 9.0 on the Ritcher scale, struck Japan on Friday, March 11, 2011. (Here below the technical details of the eventby USGS).

This disaster which is considered as the Japan's most powerful earthquake since records began, has struck the north-east coast of the Island, triggering a massive tsunami.

This video shows how the power of this earthquake was felt and how people react in a store at about 400 km from the epicenter.

Dammages caused by the earthquake were visible everywhere in a large area around Sendai, and till The Tokyo region. Here above a reffinery was set to fire in the aftermaths of the quake.
